Our Story
Tucked into the pine forests above White Pine County, Elk Flat Campground has been welcoming visitors who prefer their outdoors unpolished and honest. We're not a resort. We're not trying to be.
This is a place where you park your rig, step out onto the dirt, and hear nothing but wind in the trees and the occasional call of an elk moving through the ridges. Big Elk Mountain rises to the west. The high desert stretches to the east. And right here, in between, there's a fire ring, a patch of level ground, and a sky so dark you'll wonder where the stars went during the day.
The Campground
We keep it simple so you can focus on what brought you here — the silence, the stars, and the feeling of being somewhere that still belongs to the wild.
Each site sits among mature pines with room to spread out. Pull-in access for trailers and RVs, with plenty of space between neighbors for privacy.
Every site includes a stone fire ring. Bring your own firewood — there's nothing like a controlled flame under the high desert sky.
Indoor restrooms with running water and hot showers keep things comfortable without sacrificing the rustic feel of the campground.
Trails start right from your campsite. Hike through piñon-juniper woodlands, spot mule deer, and climb toward the alpine zones of Big Elk Mountain.
No streetlights. No light pollution. Just the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon — the kind of darkness you can't find anywhere near a city.
Open all year. Spring wildflowers, summer green, autumn aspens turning gold, and winter snows that turn the campground into a silent, white cathedral.
